Elderly woman found dead in fire

An elderly woman has been found dead in a burning apartment in Los Alamitos.
Firefighters evacuated 12 people after they arrived Monday at the apartment building.
Los Alamitos Police Capt. Bruce McAlpine said the origin of the fire was in an upstairs unit where the woman’s body was found.
No one else was injured, and it was not immediately clear how the fire started.
McAlpine estimated the dead woman’s age at 78 to 80.
Her cause of death was not immediately available.
