CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / RANCHO PALOS VERDES
Authorities warned beachgoers to avoid area waters Thursday because of a sewage spill in the Portuguese Bend neighborhood.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health advised beachgoers to avoid ocean water within 100 yards of the intersection of Palos Verdes Drive and Peppertree Drive. Officials took water samples to measure bacteria levels but will not have results until Saturday.
Updates on beach conditions can be found on the Department of Public Health’s website.
