Sonora puts 18-game winning streak on line against La Habra
GAME OF THE DAY
No. 12 La Habra Sonora (21-1, 6-0) at La Habra (16-7, 4-2)
Tonight at 7:30
Why it matters: Sonora is riding an 18-game winning streak and wants to remain unbeaten in Freeway League play. La Habra hopes to maintain its tenuous hold on second place in the league standings and close within a game of the Raiders. Sonora won the first meeting, 53-39, on Jan. 14 in part by holding La Habra senior guard Jordan Sachs to 19 points, nine below his season average. Senior guard Christopher Bearden averages 16 points a game for Sonora.

TUESDAY’S RESULT
No. 5 Riverside King 80, Corona Santiago 51
Leading contributors: Kawhi Leonard had 20 points and 20 rebounds for King and Travis Fulton scored 22 points for Santiago.
The scoop: King scored the game’s first seven points and held the host Sharks to only 17 points at halftime. “We defensively shut them out,†Wolves Coach Tim Sweeney Jr. said. “They couldn’t get a shot up.â€
Why it matters: King moved one victory closer to clinching the Big VIII League title and continued to show how much senior guards Chris Harriel and J.J. Campbell mean to its success. Both are back to 100% after Harriel suffered a hip pointer and pulled hamstring and Campbell tore a ligament in his shoulder after running into a wall during the league opener. “We are getting better and better every game,†Sweeney said. “We are peaking in a big way and playing the best basketball of the year. I’m pleased with the direction we’re headed.â€
Records: King 18-2, 10-1; Santiago 17-6, 8-3
