Worth its weight in gold

I grew up playing on the Ft. Baker field with my childhood friend whose military family lived on the base there. Recently, I had the pleasure of returning to dine and explore Cavallo Point [“The View? It’s Golden,” Hotel Review, Sept. 28] with my family, which still lives in Sausalito.
We were so happy to see that the new owners had authentically preserved the history of those buildings. The locally grown food was delicious, and the service was exceptional.
But it’s pricey. Your readers who want to enjoy the beauty of the Marin Headlands on a budget might check out the Marin Headlands Hostel.
For a fraction of the price ($22 a night shared to $66 a night for a private room) visitors can stay a mile from Ft. Cronkhite and can enjoy the same outdoor activities.
