KOST-FM retools A.M. show

After 10 months of going it alone, Mark Wallengren will be teamed again with a female co-host on the morning show at KOST-FM (103.5).
Kristin Cruz, an L.A. native who spent five years working as a DJ at KYXY-FM in San Diego, will join Wallengren today in the weekday 5-to-10 a.m. slot.
Her presence will not come as a complete shock to listeners: Cruz has been part of the on-air morning crew since May, although she was on maternity leave for a time.
Wallengren has been the official solo host since December, when KOST opted not to renew the contract of Kim Amidon, thereby dismantling what had been the longest-running morning team in Los Angeles radio. The “Mark & Kim Morning Show” ran for nearly 22 years.
Wallengren will continue hosting by himself in the weekday 10 a.m.-to-noon slot at the adult-contemporary music station.
