Avis to raise rental car rates
Avis Budget Group Inc. says it will raise some of its car rental rates as it grapples with rising business costs.
The company said it would raise its retail car rental rates by $3 a day and $20 a week starting Monday for airport and some off-airport rentals in the U.S. The increases exclude customers covered by corporate account agreements or other special arrangements.
Car rental companies have taken a beating recently as the value of their fleets decline in the bearish auto market and consumers drive less.
