Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said the Kadima party must prepare to replace Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, raising pressure on him amid a corruption investigation.

She was the first senior member of Kadima, the biggest party in the governing coalition, to question his fitness to stay in office.

On Wednesday, Defense Minister Ehud Barak called on Olmert to resign, pledging to pull his Labor Party out of the government and force new elections if he didn’t comply. Olmert denies wrongdoing.
