Update -- The Kings haven’t played Montreal since December 2005, and haven’t played host to the Canadiens since March 6, 2004. While shutting out the Ottawa Senators, 2-0, Thursday night, Kings goalie Erik Ersberg became the first NHL rookie to stop at least 40 shots during a shutout since Nov. 14, 1996. The 40 saves by Ersberg was also the most by a Los Angeles rookie, breaking the previous mark of 38 set by Gary Edwards during the 1971-72 season. Jaroslav Halak, a 22-year-old goalie from Slovakia, is expected to make his first start of the season for Montreal.
