at Chicago Cubs 4, Chicago White Sox 3: Aramis Ramirez led off the bottom of the ninth with his second homer of the game. He lined a 1-0 pitch from Scott Linebrink over the wall in center.

New York Mets 7, at Colorado 2: Carlos Delgado hit a two-run homer as part of a five-run second and interim Manager Jerry Manuel won for the second straight game.

Seattle 10, at Atlanta 2: Jim Riggleman set the pace for his first game as Seattle’s manager by scheduling batting practice three hours earlier than normal. The extra swings must have helped. The Mariners matched their season high with 15 hits, including a season-high eight doubles.

at Pittsburgh 1, Toronto 0 (12 innings): Shortstop John McDonald misplayed Jason Michaels’ hard-hit grounder with the bases loaded and none out for a game-ending error in the 12th.

St. Louis 5, at Boston 4: The Red Sox cut the lead to one run on Mike Lowell’s two-out, RBI single in the ninth inning off Ryan Franklin, but Kevin Youkilis flied out to right with runners at first and third.

Cincinnati 4, at New York Yankees 2: The Yankees played host to Cincinnati for the first time since the Reds won, 7-2, on Oct. 21, 1976, to complete a four-game World Series sweep.

Houston 4, at Tampa Bay 3: Roy Oswalt rebounded from a poor outing to help the Astros end an eight-game losing streak. He gave up two runs and seven hits in 7 2/3 innings. He was coming off an outing last Sunday in which he yielded seven runs over 5 2/3 innings in a 13-0 loss to the Yankees.

at Washington 4, Texas 3 (14 innings): Elijah Dukes drove in the winning run with two out and the bases loaded in the 14th with his fifth hit of the game, a single to left.

Baltimore 8, at Milwaukee 5: Aubrey Huff, who has five homers in the last five games, hit solo shots in the fourth and eighth innings for the Orioles.

at Minnesota 7, Arizona 2: The Twins have won four straight, thanks in large part to their starting pitchers, who have won all four games during the stretch, the first time that has happened since Aug. 22-26, 2007.

San Francisco 9, at Kansas City 4: Ray Durham, who was two for 19 and failed to drive in a run on the Giants’ just-completed homestand, had three hits, including a bases-clearing double in a four-run sixth inning.

at San Diego 6, Detroit 2: Adrian Gonzalez singled home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning.

at Oakland 7, Florida 6 (11 innings): Kurt Suzuki doubled home pinch-runner Jack Hannahan with no outs in the 11th.

Angels 7, at Philadelphia 1: Vladimir Guerrero hit his 29th homer against the Phillies, the most he has against any team.

Cleveland 6, at Dodgers 4 (10 innings): Jhonny Peralta hit a two-run double with two out in the 10th.
