A 16-year-old boy was killed in a drive-by shooting in Hyde Park, authorities said Friday.
The Los Angeles boy was gunned down while waiting at a bus stop in the 2100 block of West Florence Avenue about 10:15 p.m. Thursday, said police spokesman Richard French.
A light-colored vehicle with several occupants drove by and stopped next to the victim, French said. A black male occupant drew a handgun and fired multiple shots at him before the vehicle fled east on Florence, he said.
The victim collapsed on the sidewalk and was taken to a hospital, but was declared dead upon arrival. Police have not determined a motive for the shooting or whether the suspects and victim knew each other.
“This could be gang-related,” French said. “Any time something similar to this happens it could be gang-related, but we don’t have confirmation.”
