Re “Costs soar for new death row” and “L.A. Unified to cut 507 staff and clerical jobs,” June 11
Was it editorial judgment, irony or simply coincidence that your article about the Los Angeles Board of Education eliminating $400 million worth of jobs within L.A. Unified should appear on the front page of the California section along with an article about the $400-million price tag for a new death row facility at San Quentin State Prison?
Intent notwithstanding, the juxtaposition made their respective announcements that much more troubling. What’s happened to our priorities?
