‘The Seafarer’ sails to Geffen
Conor McPherson’s “The Seafarer,†a Tony Award nominee for this year’s best play, will fill the previously unannounced fourth slot of the Geffen Playhouse’s 2008-09 mainstage season. The play, which revolves around a drunken night of poker and a deal with the devil, will run April 22 to May 24. It will be staged by Randall Arney, the Geffen’s artistic director and the first director to replace McPherson, who directed the play in London and New York. Arney will also direct “Seafarer†for Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre this December. The Geffen staged McPherson’s “The Weir†in 2001.
