Cheech & Chong ready to hit road
Now that their feud is up in smoke, Cheech & Chong are high on plans to reunite for their first comedy tour in more than 25 years.
Comedians Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong unveiled plans Wednesday for a U.S. tour of 24 dates, beginning Sept. 12 in Philadelphia and including a Dec. 6 stop at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City.
Marin and Chong, who broke up amid creative differences, have tried to reunite before, but have always fought too much. Marin, 62, said: “It takes about 3 minutes for that to happen. There’s this veiled hatred.†But he added: “We’ve kind of resolved that.â€
“We’ve gotten to the age where we don’t feel like fighting anymore because the end is a lot closer than the beginning,†he said.
The duo won a Grammy Award for best comedy album in 1973, for “Los Cochinos,†and starred in eight films, including “Up in Smoke,†“Still Smokin’ †and “Get Out of My Room.â€
