Casting news: Morgan Freeman, Pierce Brosnan and Saoirse Ronan will star in “The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle,” a 19th century adventure film about a girl aboard a ship “with a ruthless captain and a mutinous crew.” Danny DeVito will direct from a script that he adapted from the novel by Avi.

Rush on TV: The Canadian band Rush, which hasn’t performed on U.S. television since 1975, will play their classic “Tom Sawyer” on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” at 11:30 tonight.

Farm Aid: Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young and Dave Matthews will perform at this year’s Farm Aid concert, to be held Sept. 20 in Mansfield, Mass. Since its first concert in 1985, the effort has raised more than $30 million to support family farms.
