* at Toronto 7, Baltimore 6: Alex Rios scored the winning run when shortstop Freddie Bynum misplayed a grounder in the bottom of the ninth. Rios drew a one-out walk from Jim Johnson (2-3), then stole second and went to third on a throwing error by catcher Ramon Hernandez as Vernon Wells struck out. Matt Stairs was intentionally walked to bring up Scott Rolen, who hit a sharp a grounder off Bynum’s glove and into left field, scoring Rios.
* at Detroit 9, Cleveland 2: Miguel Cabrera hit two homers, Marcus Thames had one and Justin Verlander (6-9) was dominant after a shaky start. The Tigers (45-44) lead the majors with 21 wins since June 7.
* at New York 5, Tampa Bay 0: Derek Jeter had an early go-ahead double off starter Scott Kazmir.
* Chicago 8, at Kansas City 7 (13 innings): Orlando Cabrera drove in Alexei Ramirez with a perfectly executed hit-and-run double in the 13th inning.
* at Oakland 2, Seattle 0: Justin Duchscherer faced only three batters over the minimum and threw a two-hitter.
* at Boston 6, Minnesota 5: Manny Ramirez hit a game-tying, two-run homer as part of a four-run eighth inning. One out later, Kevin Youkilis doubled and Brandon Moss singled up the middle for the go-ahead run.
* at Texas 3, Angels 2: Josh Hamilton’s major league-leading 87th RBI helped left-hander Matt Harrison win.
