Kick off Black History Month by celebrating the multitalented children of L.A.’s STAR Education program, which offers extended educational and recreational programs to students in 180 California schools. STAR ECO Station in Culver City hosts the organization’s 8th annual African American Art Festival, a colorful cultural celebration highlighting music, dance and visual arts from some of the program’s most precocious kids. “This celebration is a great way to expose people to benefits of the STAR program,†says grant coordinator Marilyn Jones. “It connects these kids to their community and gives them a chance to show the world their artistic talents.†10 a.m.-4 p.m Sat., 10101 W. Jefferson Blvd. Free. Exhibit on display every weekend until Feb. 27. (310) 842-8060; www.ecostation.org
