TRANSYLVANIA BLUES
Transylvanian-born Victor Man’s works exist in a crossroads, between Europe’s eastern and western identities, communist and capitalist realities, sex and violence. For his first solo show in the U.S., at L.A.’s Blum & Poe, he addresses how meaning ricochets through time and employs a variety of media: ink and charcoal wall drawings, glass etchings, oil paintings, small prints and mixed media installations (such as “Untitled (Old Blue),†detailed). The works are all executed in an appropriately murky -- and meditative -- palette. Ends Feb. 23, (310) 836-2062; www.blum andpoe.com
