Style points for film, TV designers
The costume designers of the comedy “Blades of Glory,” the gritty western “3:10 to Yuma” and the romantic epic “Atonement” are among the nominees for the 10th annual Costume Designer Guild Awards announced Thursday.
Vying in the contemporary film category are Julie Weiss for “Blades of Glory,” Olivier Beriot for “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly,” Mary Claire Hannan for “Into the Wild,” Monique Prudhomme for “Juno” and Louise Frogley for “Ocean’s Thirteen.”
Nominees for period film are Jacqueline Durran for “Atonement,” Alexandra Byrne for “Elizabeth: The Golden Age,” the late Marit Allen for “La Vie en Rose,” Colleen Atwood for “Sweeney Todd” and Arianne Phillips for “3:10 to Yuma.”
Garnering nominations in the fantasy film category are Mona May for “Enchanted,” Ruth Myers for “The Golden Compass,” Jany Temime for “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” Penny Rose for “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” and Michael Wilkinson for “300.”
In the TV movie/miniseries category, the guild nominated Mario Davignon for “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee,” Andrea Galer for “Jane Eyre,” and Marion Boyce and Debra McGuire for “The Starter Wife.”
Vying for contemporary television series are Chrisi Karvonides-Dushenko for “Big Love,” Randall Christensen for “Dancing With the Stars,” Amy Westcott for “Entourage,” Juliet Polcsa for “The Sopranos” and Eduardo Castro for “Ugly Betty.”
Period/fantasy TV series nominees are Robert Blackman for “Pushing Daisies,” April Ferry for “Rome” and Joan Bergin for “The Tudors.”
The awards will be handed out at a gala hosted by Anjelica Huston at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Feb. 19.
