An 11-year-old boy and his mother were injured Monday morning after they were struck by a teenage driver in Highland Park, officials said.
The Eagle Rock residents were crossing the street in the 5000 block of York Boulevard at Avenue 50 when they were hit about 7 a.m., authorities said. The mother, 44, sustained multiple fractures, severe facial injuries and possibly a skull fracture, police said. Her son sustained a head injury but did not appear to have broken bones.
The boy was taken to USC University Hospital near downtown Los Angeles and the woman was taken to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, authorities said. Both were listed in stable condition.
