Facing foreclosure: Trustees of the Mount, the former home of author Edith Wharton in Lenox, Mass., are scrambling to raise $3 million by March 24 to stave off foreclosure that would shut down the National Historic Landmark.
Oscar shorts: All of the Oscar-nominated short subjects, including live-action winner “Le Mozart des Pickpockets” and animated winner “Peter & the Wolf,” will play at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood March 6-13. “Peter & the Wolf” also will air on PBS in March.
Book prize: Cuban writer Antonio Orlando Rodriguez is the winner of this year’s $175,000 Alfaguara Spanish literary prize for his novel “Chiquita.”
