Picking a senator
Re “This isn’t her father’s Camelot,” Column One, Dec. 18
Some words that stand out from your article: family, dynasties, power brokers, favor, nepotism. If a Kennedy wants something, does the rest of the nation meekly comply? Is this really happening here in the United States, a republic last time I checked and a nation that pompously preaches democracy to the world?
I don’t know which is worse -- this skewed process of selecting Clinton’s replacement, ever-opportunistic politicians or the lack of outrage among the people. To me, it’s all of the above.
