Coyotes rally to defeat Kings
GLENDALE, ARIZ — . -- Enver Lisin scored twice in a four-minute span of the third period to lift the Phoenix Coyotes over the Kings, 4-2, on Tuesday night.
Shane Doan and Martin Hanzal also scored, and one-time backup goaltender Mikael Tellqvist made 32 saves for the Coyotes, who won for the third time in four games.
Tellqvist has started three of four games and appeared in five of the Coyotes’ last six.
Alexander Frolov and Oscar Moller scored for the Kings, who have lost two straight.
“It’s such a fine line in this league,” Kings Coach Terry Murray said. “It’s one pass, one decision, one deflected puck, one power play, that is the difference.”
Lisin pulled Phoenix even at 2-2 with a one-timer from between the circles with 15:54 remaining. Kevin Porter sent the puck to Keith Yandle alone in the left circle, and Yandle found Lisin in the low slot for the shot into the open right side of the net.
Lisin struck again with 11:52 to go, taking a long outlet from Derek Morris two strides ahead of Kings defenseman Peter Harrold at the Los Angeles blue line and ripping a wrist shot from the left circle over Erik Ersberg.
Frolov gave the Kings a 1-0 lead 4:59 in with the help of Phoenix defenseman David Hale. Hale had been checked off the puck behind the Coyotes net but recovered enough to attempt a backhanded clearing pass. The pass rolled onto Frolov’s stick, and the Kings’ leading scorer tucked it behind Tellqvist for his 10th goal.
