Swedish hip-hop artist is charged with murder
Prosecutors on Tuesday added murder to the list of charges against a Swedish hip-hop artist accused in an alleged episode of road rage that left a pedestrian dead in a Hollywood crosswalk.
The additional charge against David Moses Jassy, 34, comes after the coroner’s office determined that John Osnes, a 55-year-old pianist, died of “blunt trauma” in the Nov. 24 confrontation.
Jassy, who also faces charges of assault, battery and leaving the scene of an accident, was to be arraigned this morning.
Police said Osnes was crossing an intersection near his home on foot when a rented sport utility vehicle driven by Jassy edged into the crosswalk.
When Osnes, who did not own a car and was known to friends as a stickler for pedestrian rights, struck the front of the SUV, Jassy got out, punched Osnes and kicked him in the face, police said.
Jassy then got back in the SUV and drove over Osnes, police said.
