* at Chicago 3, Philadelphia 2: Alfonso Soriano hit a tiebreaking homer in the seventh inning to help the Cubs improve their record to a major league-best 85-50, including 51-19 at Wrigley Field.
* Milwaukee 3, at Pittsburgh 1: Ryan Braun hit a three-run home run, his 34th of the season, matching his 2007 total, and the Brewers improved to 9-1 against the Pirates this season.
* New York 5, at Florida 4: Carlos Beltran hit a grand slam with two out in the ninth inning against Kevin Gregg. Before Beltran’s homer, the Mets were one for seven with runners in scoring position.
* at Cincinnati 11, San Francisco 7: Edwin Encarnacion hit a grand slam against Barry Zito, and Chris Dickerson homered and drove in four runs to help the Reds win for only the ninth time in 32 games.
* at Washington 7, Atlanta 3: -- Lastings Milledge and Ryan Zimmerman each drove in two runs to help the Nationals post their season-high fourth straight win.
* at Houston 3, St. Louis 2: Lance Berkman hit a game-ending solo home run against former teammate Russ Springer. It was his 27th of the season.
* Colorado 9, at San Diego 4: Garrett Atkins hit two home runs and had a season-high five RBIs.
* at Arizona 9, Dodgers 3: Nomar Garciaparra’s two errors contributed to the Dodgers’ eighth straight loss.
