2 men killed, boy hurt in shooting

Two men were killed and a 2 1/2 -year-old boy was injured Saturday when two men opened fire at a backyard barbecue, authorities said.

The assailants approached the house in the 8000 block of Rose Street about 4:30 p.m., fired several shots and fled, said Deputy Byron Ward of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The two men died at the scene, and the boy was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and is expected to survive, officials said.

Ward said there was no further information on the victims or the assailants.
