* at Cincinnati 6, Milwaukee 3: Bronson Arroyo pitched six innings and hit a bases-loaded double to lead the Reds, and the Brewers had their lead for the wild-card spot reduced to half a game over idle St. Louis.
* at Arizona 13, Pittsburgh 7: Mark Reynolds hit a home run and drove in three runs, Chris Young ended an 0-for-18 skid with three hits and the Diamondbacks produced a season-high 18 hits.
* Washington 9, at Colorado 4: Tim Redding settled down after a rough start to strike out six over five-plus innings and the Nationals won their fourth game in a row. Willie Harris homered and had three runs batted in for the Nationals.
* at San Francisco 4, Atlanta 2: Matt Cain beat the Braves for the first time in three tries in his career, Randy Winn doubled in a run and had three hits and the Giants recorded only their 21st victory at home.
* Houston 2, at Chicago 0: Brian Moehler pitched five sharp innings for the Astros before rain forced the game to be called in the eighth inning.
