A Huntington Beach man was sentenced to 284 days in jail Monday after pleading guilty to sending a threatening e-mail to Orange County Board of Supervisors Chairman John Moorlach.
On Jan. 25, Steve Van Arroyo, 51, sent a message to Moorlach’s work e-mail account saying he would have Moorlach and his family “incinerated” and that he would “kill dead all 5 supervisors.”
Investigators traced the message to Arroyo’s home through the Internet protocol address of the computer used to send the message. No evidence emerged as to why Arroyo sent the e-mail. The court also issued a restraining order prohibiting Arroyo from contacting Moorlach or his family.
