Two people were taken to the hospital with critical burn injuries Sunday after the rental truck they were driving overturned and burst into flames on the 5 Freeway near downtown Los Angeles.
Five fire crews and four ambulances responded to the crash in the southbound lanes at 4th Street about 6:10 p.m., said Brian Ballton of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Ballton said that the truck was on fire when crews arrived and that there was “quite a bit of backup on the freeway.”
A SigAlert was issued from the southbound 5 to the eastbound 10 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.
