* at Boston 1, Toronto 0: Kevin Youkilis lined a run-scoring single to center field in the ninth, ending a brilliant pitching duel between Roy Halladay and Jon Lester. The hard-luck Halladay pitched his fourth complete game in a row, but he has lost the last three as Toronto fell to 3-10 in its last 13 games.
* Detroit 6, at New York 4: Gary Sheffield and Curtis Granderson homered in the third inning. The Tigers (12-15) won for the sixth time in eight games as they recover from an 0-7 start. Robinson Cano hit a two-run homer for the Yankees.
* Kansas City 9, at Texas 5: Jose Guillen hit a two-run homer and drove in five runs and the Royals won for the third time in four games after ending a seven-game losing streak. The Rangers have lost 14 of 18 games to fall to a major league-worst 9-18. Texas starter Jason Jennings (0-5) gave up eight hits and five runs before leaving in the third with irritation in his right arm.
* at Minnesota 3, Chicago 1: Boof Bonser (2-4) gave up a homer to Joe Crede among six hits and struck out eight. Gavin Floyd (2-1) gave up three runs and five hits in six innings.
* Seattle 7, at Cleveland 2: Adrian Beltre hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in a five-run ninth inning, making a winner of Mark Lowe (1-1), who pitched 1 1/3 innings for the win.
* at Baltimore 7, Tampa Bay 4: Garrett Olson took a shutout into the seventh inning and Aubrey Huff homered and Melvin Mora had two runs batted in. The Rays’ Jason Hammel (2-2) gave up three runs, six hits and four walks in 2 2/3 innings, the shortest of his 28 career starts in the big leagues.
* at Angels 2, Oakland 0: Joe Saunders (5-0) outpitched Greg Smith (2-1) and the Angels moved back into a tie for first in the AL West.
