CRITICS’PICKS
The concept of a heart-warming film, one that makes you feel as if life might be worth living after all, has been so overused by assorted schlockmeisters that when a film that actually warms the heart shows up, it’s hard to persuade people it’s legit . Well “Young@Heart†is the real deal. It’s the story of a singing group from Massachusetts, average age 80, that spends a chunk of the golden years singing covers of songs from groups like the Talking Heads and Coldplay. In a culture that venerates youth and considers aging the worst of all fates, to see these men and women having the time of their lives near the end of their lives couldn’t be more refreshing.
