Arrests may have thwarted robbery

Five men have been arrested after police used spike strips to stop two vehicles they believe were en route to a casino robbery.
It would have been the second robbery in seven months for Golden West Casino in Bakersfield.
Police say two of the arrested men have ties to the previous robbery, in which four masked men with assault rifles stole an undisclosed amount of money from the business.
The vehicles were stopped early Monday. An assault rifle, two sawed-off shotguns and a semiautomatic handgun were seized from one of the vehicles, authorities said.
Police believe two more of the five arrested could be tied to the September incident.
