No. 2 Louisiana State 34, at Tulane 9: Jacob Hester’s second touchdown of the game and Charles Scott’s pair of scoring runs helped the Tigers (5-0) amass 24 unanswered second-half points in a victory over the Green Wave (1-3) at New Orleans. LSU’s Matt Flynn shook off six sacks to throw for 258 yards. Tulane trailed only 10-9 at halftime and didn’t fall more than one score behind until Hester’s one-yard touchdown run gave LSU a 20-9 lead with 5:53 remaining in the third quarter.

at No. 14 Kentucky 45, Florida Atlantic 17: Andre Woodson threw for a career-high five touchdowns but had his NCAA-record streak of consecutive passes without an interception ended at 325 as the Wildcats (5-0) beat the Owls (3-2) at Lexington.

at No. 15 Georgia 45, Mississippi 17: Thomas Brown ran for 180 yards -- the most for Georgia in six years -- and three touchdowns as the Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1) rolled over the Rebels (1-4, 0-3) at Athens. Georgia’s total of 328 yards rushing was its most in seven years under Coach Mark Richt.

at No. 16 South Carolina 38, Mississippi State 21: Freshman Chris Smelley, who started in place of senior Blake Mitchell, threw for a career-best 279 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Gamecocks (4-1, 2-1) over the Bulldogs (3-2, 1-2) at Columbia.

at Arkansas 66, North Texas 7: Darren McFadden rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns -- all in the first half -- to lead the Razorbacks (2-2) over the Mean Green (0-4) at Fayetteville. Arkansas ended a two-game losing streak, gaining 507 yards in the first half against a North Texas team that has given up 220 points in four games.

at Vanderbilt 30, Eastern Michigan 7: Earl Bennett caught nine passes for 93 yards and a touchdown to lead the Commodores (3-1) over the Eagles (2-3) at Nashville. Vanderbilt forced a season-high five turnovers.
