2 new venues for Davis brothers
Get ready for Art and Allan Davis (the Gate/Chi) to make a splash in West Hollywood again. In October, the brothers plan to announce two upcoming venues -- one at the former 7969 nightclub and the other at neighboring Cha Cha Cha, which shares a parking lot with 7969. The Cha Cha Cha location will remain a restaurant, and plans for the 7969 space include an all-new nightclub. . . . Former L’Orangerie sommelier Emmanuel Faure is now saying cheers at the Bar at the Hotel Bel-Air. Among the new additions: 11 varieties of champagne by the glass and weekly wine-tasting events. . . . The tony Blue Velvet lounge at the Flat, a popular downtown apartment complex, is morphing into an edible estate. In October, the Flat debuts a rooftop garden that will grow organic produce for Blue Velvet menu items. Its weekly martini market (on Wednesdays) will serve up specials with ingredients procured from the rooftop, such as a lemon marmalade martini.
Manhattan Beach hot spot
Manhattan Beach’s Skydeck is the scene to be seen in. The outdoor lounge at the Shade Hotel is open on weekends after 8 p.m. and fills up with locals angling to slip into its 15-seat Jacuzzi. . . . Don’t miss tomorrow night’s performance by DJ Ashley Casselle at Falcon in Hollywood. Sponsored by Traffic Events, Casselle plans to spin an early loungey set, followed by a ramped-up late-night mix. . . . Seen on the scene: “Knocked Up’s” Katherine Heigl on Saturday night at Citizen Smith in Hollywood. . . . Like retro kicks? Mark your calendar for M Bar’s “Classic Rock Sing-A-Long” on Oct. 20. What started as a raucous house party with a bunch of studio musicians has grown into a club night. Expect loads of Beatles, Bon Jovi, Journey and Cheap Trick. We surrender.
