Firefighters on Monday were battling a wildfire that had spread across more than 300 acres of brush northeast of the San Diego County line.
The fire began just before 3 p.m. near Carancho Road and Calle Colina. Riverside County fire officials are investigating reports that it was caused by a traffic collision or vehicle fire but have not determined a cause.
Two homes were initially threatened, but the fire was spreading away from homes Monday evening and was 10% contained. No evacuations had been ordered.
