Amnesty creep

Re “Judge blocks worker ID rule,” Oct. 11
The Bush administration never had any intention of enforcing immigration law. The intent of this rule was to create such an uproar that Congress would be pushed to allow more immigrants to enter the U.S. Never mind that there are already many programs in place to import temporary workers; the Bush administration and its allies simply want more immigrants, period. The Latino groups push the DREAM Act, the Bush administration pushes for more temporary workers and, before you know it, you’ve got amnesty, which is what both sides always wanted anyway.
