* No. 3 Ohio State 48, Kent State 3: Brian Hartline returned a punt a team-record 90 yards and Donald Washington brought back an interception 70 yards to lead the Buckeyes (7-0) past the Golden Flashes (3-4) at Columbus, Ohio. Ohio State now enters the meat of its schedule, finishing with games against Michigan State, at Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois and at Michigan -- all teams with winning records.

* at Michigan 48, Purdue 21: Mike Hart and Mario Manningham each scored two touchdowns in the first half to help the Wolverines (5-2, 3-0) win their fifth in a row. The Boilermakers (5-2, 1-2) have lost two in a row. Michigan’s Mike Hart ran for 102 yards, setting a team record with his seventh consecutive 100-yard game, but did not play in the second half after injuring his right ankle.

* at Northwestern 49, Minnesota 48: Brandon Roberson ran six yards for a touchdown in the second overtime and the Wildcats (4-3, 2-2) stopped a two-point conversion attempt by the Golden Gophers at Evanston, Ill. Northwestern trailed, 35-14, but tied the score on C.J. Bacher’s fourth-down scoring pass to Eric Peterman with eight seconds left in regulation.

* at Michigan State 52, Indiana 27: Javon Ringer rushed for 203 yards and two touchdowns in 29 carries to help the Spartans (5-2, 1-2) end a six-game Big Ten losing streak at East Lansing, Mich. Kellen Lewis ran for a touchdown and passed for another for the Hoosiers (5-2, 2-2), and receiver James Hardy caught six passes for 121 yards and a touchdown.
