96,000 pounds of beef recalled
American Foods Group, based in Green Bay, Wis., has recalled 95,927 pounds of ground beef potentially contaminated with E. coli after two people who ate the meat got sick, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said.
The recalled products were produced Oct. 10 and sent to retailers and distributors in Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Virginia, the USDA said. The illnesses were reported by the Illinois Department of Health, the USDA said Saturday.
The products were distributed in bulk weight packages of fine and coarse ground beef, and each shipping label bears the establishment number “Est. 18076†inside the USDA mark of inspection, the department said.
