Modern in Long Beach
IN a city full of antique and vintage stores, David Galindo Home is a real find. The 2-year-old Long Beach shop is set up inside a 1913 bungalow with a well-edited collection of modern furnishings and accessories including pieces by Jonathan Adler, Blu Dot, Chilewich and Angela Adams. Wander through the rooms and you may find pieces like a bronze table lamp by Umbra, or the boxy armchair shown here in a soft butternut-squash vinyl that you don’t have to be a vegan to appreciate. Trained as a product designer, Galindo opened his store as a showroom for his work, which now includes a midcentury-style sofa with plush ivory upholstery, a clean-lined wingback chair in amber leather and a white teapot with a red dogwood-blossom pattern and two spouts, above left. David Galindo Home is open Wednesday through Sunday at 2815 E. Broadway; a temporary annex featuring furniture and accessories at 20% to 50% off is open noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 23 at 1021 E. Broadway. (562) 930-0033, davidgalindo.com.
