Leiner discloses federal probe
Leiner Health Products Inc., a maker of store-brand vitamins and nutritional supplements, said the Justice Department was investigating a company drug-manufacturing plant.
The probe of “production, control and distribution†probably stems from a Food and Drug Administration inspection in March, the closely held company said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The deficiencies at the plant, in Fort Mill, S.C., led the Carson-based company to suspend production of over-the-counter drugs and issue a recall.
