The City Council’s Budget and Finance Committee on Tuesday sent Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s budget for the next fiscal year to the full council for its consideration.
The committee put a hold on funding about $13.5 million in new anti-gang programs -- including money for a gang czar and staff -- proposed by the mayor, saying it wants to vet the programs further before fully funding them. The mayor’s office said it intended to push for the funding.
The council is scheduled to consider the budget beginning Friday.
