* at Arizona 4, Philadelphia 3: Carlos Quentin hit a tiebreaking single in the eighth inning at Phoenix. Batting .203 (12 for 59) at the start of the night, Quentin also doubled and scored.
* Colorado 3, at St. Louis 2: Brad Hawpe drew a walk with the bases loaded in the ninth inning for the tiebreaking run. Todd Helton homered for the Rockies, who have won three of four.
* San Diego 4, at Atlanta 2: Chris Young struck out eight in six innings. Last year, Young went 0-1 against the Braves in two starts, giving up 13 runs and 15 hits in six innings.
* at Milwaukee 3, Washington 0: Chris Capuano struck out a season-high nine, Geoff Jenkins hit a homer and the Brewers won for the eighth time in nine games.
* Houston 5, at Cincinnati 4: Luke Scott hit a tiebreaking, three-run homer in the eighth inning that helped Roy Oswalt improve to 5-2 for the Astros.
* at San Francisco 9, New York 4: Barry Zito (3-3) struck out five in six innings to win for the first time in three starts. He also had his second career hit in 44 at-bats.
* Dodgers 6, at Florida 1: Brad Penny struck out a career-high 14 in the victory at Miami.
