Amy Freed, a Pulitzer Prize finalist for her play “Freedomland,” has been named to Old Globe Theatre’s Playwright-in-Residence program, the San Diego-based theater announced Monday.
Freed, whose latest play, “Restoration,” opens Thursday at the Globe, joins “Search and Destroy” playwright Howard Korder, the first participant in the program, which was established in 2006 through a grant from the James Irvine Foundation to develop new plays and playwrights and expand the theater’s artistic offerings.
