* Atlanta 5, at Chicago 3: Third baseman Yunel Escobar doubled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and Andruw Jones led off the ninth with a home run as the Braves handed the Cubs their sixth loss in a row. Cubs Manager Lou Piniella was ejected and kicked dirt on third-base umpire Mark Wegner.
* at New York 7, Arizona 1: Carlos Delgado keyed a three-run rally in the fourth inning with his 415th home run -- fifth in the last seven games -- to help the Mets end the Diamondbacks’ eight-game winning streak.
* Florida 5, at Milwaukee 2: Josh Willingham hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning to lift the Marlins. With the score 2-2 in the eighth, Hanley Ramirez singled to drive in Dan Uggla from second. With two out, Willingham homered to left.
* San Diego 11, at Washington 3: Justin Germano won his fourth consecutive start, Rob Bowen drove in a career-high four runs and the Padres rode a six-run first inning to rout the Nationals. Justin Germano (4-0) is unbeaten in five starts since being recalled from triple-A Portland to replace the injured Clay Hensley in the rotation.
* at Colorado 4, Cincinnati 1: Todd Helton hit a two-run homer, and Jeff Francis yielded five hits over seven innings in winning his third straight start. In his last six starts, he is 4-0 with a 1.74 earned-run average.
* at Houston 8, St. Louis 3: Carlos Lee, Adam Everett and Luke Scott hit home runs to help the Astros win for only the second time in 13 games.
* at Philadelphia 5, San Francisco 2: Helped by three sacrifice flies, left-hander Cole Hamels became the league’s first eight-game winner.
* at Pittsburgh 3, Dodgers 1: The Dodgers (32-23) were trying to move 11 games above .500 for the first time this season.
