Push for sustainable building

Regarding “Fire Paves the Way for a Green Remodel,” July 1: Deb and Vern Jahnke’s example shows that sustainable building is feasible for ordinary California residents. Indeed, it strengthens California leadership in the global fight against global warming.
Hopefully, [members of] our state Senate [will] continue to affirm their responsibility to the environment and to their constituents by supporting legislation such as the up-and-coming Solar Water Heating Bill and implementing such environmentally aware programs in their respective districts.
