* Cincinnati 8, at New York 4: Brandon Phillips hit a first-inning grand slam and drove in six runs. Phillips’ second slam in 11 days put John Maine in a four-run hole before he retired a batter. Phillips had a run-scoring double in the fifth and a run-scoring single in the sixth.

* at Chicago 6, Houston 0: Carlos Zambrano yielded three hits -- all singles -- in 6 2/3 innings and hit a run-scoring single as the Cubs blanked the Astros for their 13th win in 17 games.

* Washington 14, at Florida 10: Dmitri Young hit a three-run double to cap the Nationals’ six-run fourth inning. The Nationals batted around in the fourth and fifth innings to take an 11-5 lead. It was Washington’s highest-scoring game since the franchise moved from Montreal before the 2005 season.

* at Philadelphia 13, St. Louis 3: Kyle Kendrick improved to 4-0 since being called up from double-A Reading in June to take the injured Freddy Garcia’s spot in the rotation. The Phillies avoided becoming the first professional sports team to reach an unwanted record: 10,000 losses.

* at Atlanta 9, Pittsburgh 1: Andruw Jones and Brian McCann hit consecutive homers to start a six-run sixth inning. Tim Hudson gave up five hits and walked one in seven shutout innings.

* Colorado 10, at Milwaukee 6: Troy Tulowitzki and Yorvit Torrealba each hit two-run homers during a decisive five-run fifth inning. Jeff Francis, who won his fourth straight decision, hit a two-run double in the fourth inning.

* at Arizona 8, San Diego 3: The Diamondbacks improved to 10-1 against Greg Maddux.

* Dodgers 9, at San Francisco 1: The Dodgers won their ninth in a row at San Francisco.
