Efrain Guigui, 81; clarinetist, conductor of Vermont Symphony

Efrain Guigui, 81, conductor of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra from 1974 to 1989, died June 18 in Los Angeles from complications of cancer, his son Martin said.
Guigui was born in Panama and raised in Argentina.
A clarinetist, he was educated at the Student Music Conservatory in Buenos Aires, and at Boston University.
After leaving Vermont, Guigui was a guest conductor in South America and elsewhere and started a youth orchestra in Mexico, his son said.
