Yacht race official found dead in Alamitos Bay

A board member of a Long Beach-to-Hawaii yacht race was found dead in the water beside her boat, authorities said.
The body of Transpacific Yacht Race official Wendy Ellen Siegal, 55, was discovered Thursday afternoon in Alamitos Bay. There was no indication of foul play, said Officer Jackie Bezart.
Siegal had surgery for a brain tumor in March, said race spokesman Rich Roberts. An autopsy was pending, officials said.
Siegal was on the board that oversees the 2,225-mile race, which starts Monday.
