James, you’re beautiful

I enjoyed Geoff Boucher’s “Blunt’s Shaking His Hit” (July 1) and wanted to add my thoughts.
In November 2005, I had a shattering experience -- I was fired from my longtime job. Out of the blue, I was demolished by a boss who I adored in a position that I had planned to keep for at least five more years until I might retire.
I’d heard James Blunt’s single on TV, I got the CD in early December, and I began to listen to the whole thing. Music has always had a hold on me; I don’t really pay much attention to lyrics, I’m addicted to melody. As I listened, I became addicted to almost every song. His music kept me calm, helped me try to figure out what happened to me and helped me get on with my life.
I don’t think his power was in the single, “You’re Beautiful,” I think it was the entire album. And this comes from someone who is a radio person, a singles person, not an album lover. So I owe James, and I do believe he will transition. I’ll bet money on it.
