Seven suspected Muslim insurgents arrested in a raid at an Islamic school were identified by the Thai army as some of the rebels’ top bomb-making specialists in the violence-racked south.
Police and soldiers raided a private school in Narathiwat province’s Muang district Sunday night, where they arrested the seven suspects, who were accused of assembling and planting bombs, an army spokesman said.
They were suspected of involvement in some of the worst recent violence in the region, including a roadside bombing that killed 11 paramilitary troops in May, the spokesman said.
