Re “Getting ready for goodbye,” Column One, and “Gone fishin’,” June 30
The juxtaposition of the pictures related to these stories is a powerful reminder that our soldiers leave everything behind to fight a war that has a questionable basis. This is what Independence Day is all about, remembering not the brass safely inside the Green Zone or the president merrily speed-boating about, but those who for the period of their deployment will be continuously in the zone of danger and may give their lives in obedience of orders.
